AdLab Welcomes Guest Speaker Jason Kaplan
On November 13, AdLab welcomed an outstanding AdLab alumnus (2010-2012), Jason Kaplan. Jason is an associate creative director and copywriter at Razorfish. He worked in Boston for 9 years and is now working in New York.
Jason provided AdLabbers with some excellent career guidance. He emphasized that there is no such thing as stability in advertising. Instead, we need to constantly adapt to changes.
“Don’t waste your time becoming average,” Jason said, “We don't have to follow the masses, instead, we can make our own way.”
Jason shared two creative videos - one for Dunkin Donuts and another one for Dodge, as examples to indicate successful advertising campaigns. In addition, he suggested that we should consider engagement data every single month after delivering some social media ads.
During the Q&A session, Jason gave students a lot of pertinent advice on both careers and life. “It is important to remind yourself that criticism about work is not a reflection of you,” said Jason. “It is a criticism of the works, and our job is to make the work works.”
