It is with heavy hearts that we remember Walter Lubars, a visionary leader and cherished mentor in the AdLab community. As a professor, turned COM Dean, turned AdLab founder, he has left a profound legacy that has touched countless lives through his work at BU, AdLab, and beyond. Walter was a devoted family man and a dedicated professional who made significant contributions to advertising. Fifty years ago, he founded our beloved AdLab with four students and a request from the Ileitis and Colitis Foundation. He was known for his sharp intellect and creative prowess, which he generously shared with his students and colleagues. His ability to bridge the gap between academics and industry made him a vital figure at BU’s College of Communication.
At AdLab, Walter played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of advertising professionals. He fostered an environment where creativity thrived, encouraging students to think outside the box and develop innovative campaigns that resonated with real-world clients.
